Amalgam Removal

icon-sage

Many of our patients have metal or amalgam dental fillings from previous dental visits. An amalgam is a combination of metals used to effectively fill cavities. These fillings can disrupt the look of your smile with their metal appearance, and also slowly release mercury vapour into your body during regular dental care like brushing. At Sage Dental we provide safe and healthy removal methods to avoid mercury contact for both the patient and the dentist.

Composite Fillings

icon-sage

It’s unnecessary for you to continue to conceal your smile due to traditional silver fillings, which you may find embarrassing or unattractive, and that have the potential of eventually becoming discolored and turning black. You no longer need to suffer these circumstances, because Composite fillings are available that match the color of your teeth. They are comprised of composite resin, which has a natural appearance, while providing the same strength and durability that silver filling provide.

Contemporary composite resin fillings, in fact, are actually more durable than traditional metal fillings, and they match your teeth seamlessly! You will be amazed by the significant difference this small alteration to your teeth can create. Contact us today and simply inquire about natural colored fillings that seamlessly match your teeth as a cosmetic dental solution!

Root Canals

icon-sage

While root canals may sound like a complicated or painful procedure, root canal treatment is straightforward and extremely common. Generally, a root canal is needed when there is inflammation or an infection in the roots of a tooth/teeth. During the root canal procedure, your dentist will remove pulp from inside the tooth, clean and disinfect the root canals, and then place a filling to seal it to prevent infection or irritation.

Signs of infection vary, which is another reason why it is important to commit to regular dental visits. A root canal infection can become painful if treatment is not sought right away. If you experience any signs of infection, we highly recommend booking an appointment as soon as possible to avoid worsening the infection. Signs of infection that may require a root canal include:

-Intense teeth pain during meals or when pressure is put on the area

-Sensitivity to hot/cold that is prolonged and worse than typical tooth sensitivity

-Change in colour of the tooth (darkened)

-Tenderness or swelling in the surrounding area

CEREC Same Day Crowns are another option when looking at Dental Crowns at Sage Dental. CEREC is a technology specifically used to restore damaged teeth in only one visit to your dentist. After using 3D imaging to get a detailed photo of your tooth, CEREC’s software helps design a crown using a high grade ceramic material that is compatible with the natural tissue surrounding your teeth. Once complete, the ceramic crown will be bonded to your tooth using the latest practices in adhesive dentistry.

CEREC has many advantages over the traditional crown technology, such as:

-Made and bonded in one visit (no need for multiple trips)

-Eliminates the need for a temporary crown, therefore avoiding discomfort until your next appointment

-Aesthetically pleasing as it is closely matched to the natural colour of your teeth

-Stronger than other methods of dental crowns, creating a long lasting healthy smile

-CEREC can also be used to create durable porcelain fillings

Wisdom Tooth Extractions

icon-sage

Wisdom tooth extractions are a common surgical procedure required in some cases to remove one or more wisdom teeth. There are many reasons why a wisdom tooth may need to be removed, ranging from tooth infections, impacted wisdom teeth, pain, or other dental issues. Many patients develop wisdom teeth and have no problems as they grow in, but for others, the process can be painful and affect the overall health and function of your mouth.

At Sage Dental, we will work with every individual to come up with a treatment plan that is the best fit for you. Providing a gentle and comfortable experience for all of our patients is very important to us, that is why we will go over the different anesthesia options, treatment plans, and recovery tips at our initial consultation.

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, we recommend booking an appointment or consultation with your dentist to ensure quick treatment and prevention of further dental issues:

-Red or inflamed gums surrounding wisdom teeth

-Pain

-Difficulty opening the mouth and swallowing

Gum Grafting

icon-sage

Gum Grafting is often necessary in order to protect a patient’s teeth from the damaging effects of gum recession. With gum recession, the root of your tooth can become exposed, destroying the structure supporting your teeth which can lead to increased sensitivity, pain, or infection. Gum Grafting is an excellent way to reduce further recession and bone loss, cover exposed roots, and improve the overall aesthetics of your smile.

During the gum grafting process, your periodonsity will take gum tissue from your palate or another source and use it to cover exposed root. While the procedure may sound intimidating, at Sage Dental we commonly perform this procedure with excellent results.

Symptoms of gum recession may include:

-Tender or swollen gums

-Longer tooth line

-Increased sensitivity

-Loose teeth

-Exposed roots

Bone Grafting

icon-sage

During a bone grafting procedure, a section of bone will be taken from another area of your body, or in some cases, a special bone grafting material will be used, and then grafted onto your jawbone. After several months, the bone graft will begin to create enough new strong bone that a dental implant will be able to successfully be held into place.

Sinus Lifts

icon-sage

A sinus lift is required when there is not enough bone in the area of your molars and premolars, or when the sinuses are too close to the jaw for dental implants to be placed. The sinus lift is the procedure of adding bone between your jaw and maxillary sinuses. The sinus membrane will carefully be ‘lifted’ to move it upward, making room for the bone. As the number of patients opting for dental implants to replace missing teeth in recent years grows, so does the number of sinus lifts.
